The Secrets from Australia's Biggest Loser
Sunday, 30 April 2006
On tonight's show we found out a few secrets that happened during the 5 months in the house. Adro reveals that it feels terrific and unreal that he won. Harry said he knew from the moment he saw Adro before the final that Adro would win. He was also shocked to see Wal so fit as well. "I'm the same person inside" says Wal. AJ ask him how does it feel that you were so close to Adro's winning body percentage loss. "Not really good" and Wal laughs. Kristie says she felt that she needed to be the first woman to win but it doesn't matter Adro really deserves it. Cat lost the third largest amount after Wal and Harry. She is very happy about it and believes the show helped her turn around. Tracy says she was in the game for the weight loss not really the money.
Diet & Weight loss
AJ calls Fiona, David and Adro to talk about diet and weight loss. Bob apparently preferred the Atkins diet which excludes sugar and carbs. Jillian wasn't as hard on diet but looked at the importance of eating healthy and changing your way of eating. Adro believes that when he took up running he started to lose weight and the Atkins diet really worked for him. He now runs 25km a day. He tells us that it is good to try different diets to see what works for you, he was lucky to find it after second try. Fiona who used to be an emotional eater says she thinks the turnaround for her is that she realised she was and when she feels hungry tries to figure out why that is, if she is bored, upset etc. She also tries to distract herself with activities like dancing. David started losing weight as soon as he started moving that was the key. After being voted off the started walking every day and got to the stage where he was able to jog. David used to eat once a day and with the diets in the house he had to start eating a certain amount of calories to be able to lose weight which felt a little wierd for him. AJ asks them if someone used to smuggle in treats. Apparently there where a few lollies missing from the Diary Room, Wal handed a few out too. Was the temptations guilty pleasures? Fiona says she doesn't really like chocolate or cupcakes but that she is more of a "savory girl". David's challenge was to quit smoking as well because of his lungs. Fiona recommends keeping a food diary to keep track of when you eat and how many calories. The benefits are that you have it on paper and can't fool yourself.
Training
Artie, Kristie and Harry join AJ on the topic. Artie thought of himself "dreaming about Bob and the next thing Bob is there waking me up for training". Kristie found that setting goals helped her push herself further. We remember Kristie says "It's just pain" under the super challenge. Kristie says "I doesn't like pain and certainly doesn't have to like it I just have to do it". Jillian's motivation and sometimes hardness with Kristie is something she is happy Jillian did. Kristie always have been in her comfort zone and Jillian helped her push and break the barrier. Before the show the daily exercise for Artie used to be walking to the mailbox Kristie and Harry both agree. They all had there fair share in the gym but Wal was probably there the most. Not everyone started straight away but it took a while for the training routine to settle. Kristie since being a mother of five and busy she now makes time for exercising in her busy life. She recommends getting up an hour earlier and get an extra hour for training you didn't used to have. And it is important doing that everyday without making excuses it is vital that you have the attitude to change yourself. Some questions from the audience reveals that yes exercise still hurts afterwards but you get used to it and especially if you do it gradually. There where also some questions in to how the contestants got along with cleaning their rooms and toilets. Kristie says that after Wal left there was a "funky" smell coming from the room and she found old lunch boxes under the bed.
Secrets & events
Jo, Shane and Ruth reveals a few surprises and explain the water loading. "Artie is going to hate this but he put a sock in his pants on the first weigh in" Jo laughs. Is there anything between Shane and Jillian? Shane just reveals what we know already, that Jillian proposed to him on the final. Ruth struggled during many competitions and exercises and explains her real feeling on that day crawling "like a turtle" on the beach. Ruth felt very emotional that day and was also thinking of her son who had his first day at school. "I was just a big sulk that day crying a lot". Shane explains the water loading in depth. So what some did was after gaining immunity they ate salty foods to help bind a lot of water and the drank heap of it. Then when they needed to lose on the next weigh in they had been drinking plenty of water to wash the salt out. Remember when Ruth thought she was pregnant? What happened was that when you start exercising after hardly doing anything the muscles release toxicants that makes you feel sick this eventually goes away. But Ruth felt extremely nauseous and vomited, something she experienced previously with being pregnant. The challenges where not rehearsed and Shane says they had no idea. "I wouldn't move a tonne of bricks twice". Everyone with families missed them terribly but that was the sacrifice they had to make. Last question and it is from a little girl asking Shane "Have you found love yet?". Shane says unfortunately he hasn't.
Alliances
Cat, Wal and Tracy talks with AJ. The FAT alliance (Fiona, Artie & Tracy) started from friendship and Tracy says everyone had alliances. Wal named it FAT by the way. Wal admits he threw the soccer game because Cat didn't wan't to join him against the FAT alliance and the outcome was the red team picked Wal to go to their team. Tracy's says her husband thought their was sexual tension between her and Wal. They both deny that and say they both have very similar personalities. Tracy says she is a female version. Wal appreciates the fact that Tracy is outspoken and stands up for things. Tracy thinks the calling of her a "Bitch" is simply because she is a woman and wouldn't be the case if she was a man. Cat thinks of her as "the mean older sister" but then she has very emotional qualities as well. They are asked if the trainers had any favorites. Cat says "Bob seemed to like me and especially my ass" and laughs. "But he loved Artie as well". They all think Jillian probably favored Kristie. And for all of you, Tracy claims there was absolutely nothing going on between Fiona and Bob. Wal came up with the idea of changing the blue's room with theirs. Fiona at that point wanted to leave but Tracy doesn't think Artie had the slightest intention of leaving. They all were actually surprise about Kristie's "other side" they all saw the friendly soft Kristie but then released that she had played the game hard. Tracy didn't come back into the game because of her work commitments. Wal tried to water load before the weigh in but had no idea of the change in rules and that he over did it. Harry had apparently shouted him two beers the night before as well. Throwing the shirts on the floor when Harry got back in the game was Adro's idea. Kristie defend their actions as nothing against Harry just the principle someone was let back in the game.
Rumours & The Future
Adro's wife is expecting their second child. Ruth is in audition for the Australian Idol. Fiona is not sure what is going to happen or if there is potential modeling for her in the future. Shane is planning a change in careers to become a personal trainer. Artie's type 2 diabetes is gone! David thinks he will be married, have children and be a lot fitter in 10 years. Adro regrets he waited so long before doing something about his weight and that the show had to be his turning point. He's advise is "Don't wait!"
