Kristie & Adro make it above the yellow line
Friday, 7 April 2006
As the contestants prepared to come back mixed feeling were amongst them. Shane couldn't wait to get back to the house and his routine. Adro said "Take me back there anytime" and he stepped out of the car. Everyone went straight to the gym even though they felt exhausted. Bob and Jillian congratulate Kristie on her immunity win on the super challenge. Bob starts training Fiona pushing her with boxing a good cardio exercise. Jillian got the others running 9 miles and hour on their thread mills. Adro has to take a break and walks outside with Jillian then he breaks into tears. Adro is so exhausted emotionally and physically and misses his girls terribly. Jillian comforts him and says "You need to be recharged". Bob takes a time with Adro as well and encourages him with "The new you". Bob kept his promise he made when Adro climbed the 70 metre tree that they would have a beer together. But Adro says not before the weigh-in but that he would love to have it afterwards with Bob. Later Shane walks outside to the pool where Adro is training for a chat. Shane tells Adro it would be good if they stick together and look after the one out of them who falls below the yellow line.
The contestants walk in to their 9th weigh-in. AJ reminds them that whoever puts on weigh automatically fall below the yellow line and face elimination. Kristie is first to step on the scale, since she put on weight on the last weigh-in she was bound to loose sufficient. Kristie loses 8.1kgs and her body percentage loss is -8.85%. Fiona is next and he scale reports a weight gain of 0.8kgs. Fiona falls below the yellow line. Next up is Shane. He hasn't been able to do his workout routine in Camp Eden and hopes for the best. Shane loses 2.8kgs which is a body percentage loss of -2.28%, not his previous big numbers. Adro smiles and feels relieved that he now has to beat 2.8kgs and he is safe. Adro feels like he has worked out more than Shane. AJ calls Adro to the scale and it register a 3.6kgs weight loss. Adro is so happy and says it's for "his girls" and "for Bob". As Adro walks back to the group Kristie is puzzled and think that maybe she has under estimated Adro as a bigger threat. Kristie and Adro will decide the fate of Fiona and Shane but if their votes are divided Fiona would be automatically voted of due to least amount of body percentage loss.
Adro is thinking that with her weight gains Fiona doesn't deserve to be there, he also have a pact with Shane but will he keep it. Kristie makes it clear she will do whatever it takes to make the odds better for her. Not mentioning names but you would think that would mean she'll be voting of Shane. Monday will tell all. Next week the remaining 3 will meet all the other eliminated contestants - not sure what is up!
Kristie's one-way ticket to the final
Thursday, 6 April 2006
On today's super challenge the winner would get immunity which guarantees them a place in the final. With so much at stake everyone took their time to prepare mentally before the challenge. The contestants meet AJ and she gives them the rules. The contestants will ride their bikes to the riverbank take a kayak and paddle 4 laps around buoys. After that they will run 4 laps and then ride their bikes back to the finishing line. They take their positions on their push bikes. Fiona admits she is unbalanced on bikes and sees that to her disadvantage. The race starts and Adro is making a head start followed by Kristie and Shane. They have to run over a ditch and Kristie walks her bike unaware that her sudden stop makes Shane break and fall off his bike in the ditch. Fiona passes Shane and when Shane is ready to jump on his bike he notice that the chain is broken. Shane is furious with Kristie and now last in the race. Adro reaches the riverbank and jumps onto his kayak but causes the kayak to roll over. He has to start again and now Kristie has overtaken him. Shane catches up with everyone but is not able to recover. Adro is fast on his laps in the kayak and finishes them first, now time to run. Fiona tries to keep her spirits up but feels "psyched out" when Kristie starts to make her "animal noises". Kristie finishes her laps and starts running after Adro. They are running and walking fast side by side but on the final laps Kristie pulls away and makes it to her bike first. During the exhaustion and putting her helmet on she is shaking and says "It's just pain!". Adro is behind her on the bike but Kristie is just enough ahead of him to make it to the finish line. Adro's says to us later on "I wasn't happy for Kristie for a second, not at all". With such an important prize at this time in the game who can blame him. Last one to cross the line is Shane and he is still upset and shows his emotion by throwing his bike and helmet.
Tomorrow the contestants are back in the house and the pressure is high in the gym. We now know that apparently someone has gained weight on Friday's weigh-in!
Face your fears
Wednesday, 5 April 2006
Tonight we saw the contestants getting their adrenalin rush and do thing the normally wouldn't do. Jillian quoted her favorite from Eleanor Roosevelt "Do one thing everyday that scares you". Kristie was up first to do the "Flying fox" apparently the longest in the southern hemisphere. She felt scared when she jumped off but couldn't stop saying that "was so much fun" to Jillian when she landed. Bob brought Fiona to the "Power pole" she was to climb up the pole then leap to a trapeze in the air. Fiona was very focused and did not feel fear until she was standing on the pole and looked at the distance to the trapeze. Fiona: "I wont do it". Bob screaming: "Fiona jump!". Bob "You are turning into that little child again". Fiona decides to jump and makes it to the trapeze. Jillian takes Shane abseiling, she completes the run down the steep mountain in 7 seconds. Time for Shane's turn. Shane: "I didn't care if it wasn't possible I had to beat Jillian". He completes the abseil in 13 seconds. Determined to beat Jillian's record he goes from 7 seconds then next attempt he gets down to 5 seconds. Adro faces a more daring attempt with Bob. Adro is to climb up a tree then stand at the platform on the top with arms spread and jump into the air. Adro starts shaking and reminds Bob about his fear during the Harbour Bridge climb in the early weeks. Bob encourages him and Adro starts climbing and focusing only on his arms, legs and not to look down. He gets on the platform and hugs the tree. Bob: "Adro turn around!" Adro: "NO!" While this is going on Adro can't keep from thinking how hot, scared and uncomfortable he is up there. Bob gets him to repeat positive this "I'm safe" "I'm ready" etc. Adro turns around and after 5 countdown attempts of not jumping he finally screams "The new me!" and jumps. He embraces Bob down the bottom in tears. Later Adro tells us that it felt like the new Adro was falling while the old Adro was on the platform.
The contestants said goodbye to Bob and Jillian as tomorrow they face the super challenge.
Physical and mental pressure
Tuesday, 4 April 2006
The show starts with the contestants doing Tha-Chi for circulating their energy and inner peace with Camp Eden instructor Frank. Bob then takes them out on a "hike". "They think they're going on a hike but they are going on 'Bob's hike'". The guys are finding it difficult to keep up especially Shane. Fiona along with Kristie keeps going even though Bob has stopped to push the guys. Bob calls out for Fiona and Kristie and demands them to walk back. Regardless of how much Bob is screaming the girls keep walking towards the top. Kristie decides to walk back. Bob caught up with Fiona and is furious that she didn't obey him. Fiona is angry and insist on her being the first one to get to the top. Bob decides to push all of them further and run to the top from here without stopping. No surprise to see Fiona coming first after Bob. Shane made it through last after more encourage. Bob tells Fiona about the positive change she has gone through since being on the show. "Fiona has gone from 'I can't this and that' to a competitor. Now it was time for Jillian's reign.
Jillian who usually is merciless with her training took a different approach and focused on a one to one confronting discussion on what made them gain weight. She talked to Adro and about the importance that he doesn't compare his achievements with someone else. Jillian then talked to Shane about loneliness and encouraged him to open up. Shane is getting more confident and open about letting people close. Jillian went next to Kristie with her mind set to get to the core of her problem "Kristie is so composed". Jillian played roll play with Kristie to get her to express her anger verbally. Kristie was in tears but managed to fight back. After a day of both physical and mental hardships the contestants enjoyed in the pool with Bob and Jillian.
Fiona overwhelmed by a narrow escape with Ruth eliminated
Monday, 3 April 2006
After Fiona's results on Friday's weigh-in she was shattered "That's it I'm gone". Fiona didn't keep her hopes up high. Kristie had promised Ruth in week 2 that she would not vote her off so did Adro. Fiona and Ruth discuss the elimination privately and Ruth shares her confidence that Kristie will not vote for her. Shane is unsure of who to vote for but believes that Ruth's sometimes negativity to working out often rubs off on him in the gym. Kristie is torn by her earlier promise to Ruth and feels that Ruth doesn't give all she's got and therefore doesn't deserve to be there. Kristie walks in on Fiona packing and Fiona says outright "Should I be packing?" Kristie goes on about her promise to Ruth etc. Fiona continues her packing. Kristie then moves on picking Adro's brain on what he thinks about Ruth. Adro later tells he couldn't care less what Kristie said about Ruth since he will not vote her out.
Time to think and now time to act. The contestants are seated in the elimination room. Adro is first to cast his vote for Fiona. Next is Shane while sobbing tells us that he always had a logical reason for voting someone out, but today his gut told him to vote for Ruth. 1 vote for Fiona 1 for Ruth it was time for Kristie to reveal her vote. She tries to explain he decision in between tears. Ruth glances over to her and slowly realises what Kristie probably has done. "I'm here to be challenged so I voted for Ruth - I'm so sorry". Everyone is crying or on the verge of crying while Fiona tries to come to terms with what just happened. Ruth says her goodbyes with no hard feelings for Kristie's betrayal. AJ later announces that anyone who from now on puts on weight at the weigh-in will automatically be facing elimination regardless of any immunity, obviously referring to Kristie's latest 5.9 kilo weight gain during immunity.
Leaving the room Adro is very upset by the loss of Ruth and Kristie's action "I've got nothing to say". Kristie tries to justify her actions and keeps going and Adro later tells us that he preferred not to hear Kristie's "load of crap". Kristie can not be trusted since she as well made the same promise to Adro. Fiona said she was "dancing on the inside" merely escaping elimination.
Jillian and Bob sees that Ruth is gone and Bob later reveals that "I guess she would have been the obvious to be gone". The remaining four contestants tell of their weight-loss apart from Kristie that has a weight gain. Bob later says "she has gone too far" and attitude like that does not matter outside the game where you need to have learnt to change and be healthy. Bob and Jillian tells the contestants that it's time to get away for the house, so they have planned a stay at Camp Eden in Queensland for a couple of days. Everyone is clearly exited as the pack their bags. They arrive at Camp Eden situated in beautiful rainforest. There are facial and mud treatments here but that not what they are there for. Bob hopes to push everyone to what they think is the furthest they'll go and then push some more! "It's time that they see and show us what they are made of."
Ruth comes home to her husband and kids who have missed her terribly. Since the show Ruth has lost 24kilos and gone down 4 dress sizes. She looks healthy and have loads more energy. She can play with her kids and run around. She works out 3 times/week with 2hrs cardio and a bit of weight lifting. She looks great well done Ruth!
