Golden Girl Below the Yellow Line
Friday, 31 March 2006

It was another tense Friday nights weight-in. As always there was going to be some surprises.

How was all this weeks workouts and eating going to effect the contestants weight loss this week?

First of all Ruth stepped up to the plate. The numbers came up and she lost 1.7kg. She seemed pretty happy with her loss but spoke remarks that it could be her last week. But really with someone stronger than Ruth set to drop below the yellow line the contestants will want to knock out the person that is most likely to be a challenger in the game.

Next it's the new dark horse in the race, Determined Kristie, She has her eyes on that 200k prize money and is going for it. With Immunity this week, in a seen before strategy of she drank loads of water. Kristie gained a total of 5.9kg. Adro commented that this sort of thing gives them an unfair advantage in the next weigh-in. Basically this means that Kristie is probably going to be safe next week bringing her through to the final 3. Will be interesting to see what happens then.

Ardo steps up to see his weight loss for the week. Adro pulled big numbers last week and it seems that when you do that, it's hard to get big numbers a second week in a row. Adro trained hard all week and felt confident as he looks at his weight changing. Then bang - only losing 2.4 kg and seeming really disappointed. He couldn't believe it. With Fiona's win at the challenge, he knew for sure he would be going home on Monday.

Shane once again came through with the big numbers. As he had an extra 2 days of weight loss time following last weeks penalty early weight-in, Shane was this weeks biggest loser with an amazing 5.3kg loss. Well done Shane. By far he is the biggest loser in the house now with his constant weight loss and refusal to give in to temptation. Shane is playing this game to win and I must say he is looking good at this stage. He's at least proving top 2 finishes with Wal out of the picture last week with that shoot result. I must say Wal looked great this week; He is a proven champion with great weight loss. He is looking great! Well done Wal by far I still believe you were the best player of the game and overall the Biggest Loser probably. Cutting down on the alcohol was excellent and it's great to see how people can change their lives, live happier and healthier. Wal should be an inspiration to all of us in what it can be to turn from overweight to a healthy and active person.

Next is was the Golden Girl up on the scales. With a 1kg loss bonus, Fiona was going to be above the yellow line and sending Adro home. Adro was sweating as the scales started reading. Then bang, what, what happened?..... Fiona had lost only a crazy 300g - that's not much at all. With the bonus she fell below past Adro under the yellow line this week. Another crazy twist to a constantly changing game that puts a favourite player by many fans right into Monday's firing line. You have to think for sure that she will be voted off on Monday nights show. Ruth is not seen as a threat, so the golden girl might be going home! Worth mentioning was the expressions on Adro's face when he knew he was safe for one more week. He was over the moon. He couldn't believe Fiona lost that little. He was surprised and happy that his journey would continue. After 3 seconds and a huge stare from Shane, Adro became more composed and expressed sadness that Fiona could be going home. But we all know - He was SUPER happy!

Monday will tell the truth and we will see who's journey has ended on Australia's first Biggest loser Series. They have been chosen and Ruth and Fiona are the only ones that have a chance of going home on Monday.

A Watercraft + an extra 1 kilo weight-loss won on the challenge
Thursday, 30 March 2006

During the 24 hours Ruth was locked in her room she felt moments of insanity. Finally the door was unlocked and she was to catch up in the you with Jillian. She started of slowly on the sprint machine. "No panicking you can do this" Jillian told her as she gradually bumped up the speed. Ruth ran a personal record of 10 miles/hr without panicking or complaints. Both were very happy she pulled through.

Time for the challenge and the contestants leave the house to find themselves somewhere in the bush. No one hade the slightest idea what was going to happen. AJ welcomed them in front of a black curtain. There were 2 rounds to the challenge. First round they will have to navigate their way through a maize blindfolded. The first three who complete the task move on to round 2. The black curtain reveals the prize for the winner of round 2. A Watercraft valued at $11,000! And the winner also gets an extra 1 kilo weight-loss on tomorrow's weigh-in.

Round 1: The contestants are blindfolded. Kristie later tells us she remembered what the fortune cookie said to Fiona: "Use your left hand in the challenge". She makes a head start. Adro felt like he was going in circles and found himself back at square one. Kristie crosses the finishing line first and removes her blindfold. She sees that Fiona is not far behind and guides her to the end. Both of them decides to help Ruth. Shane is very close but feels frustrated hearing that the help Ruth. Shane "I guess there is an alliance between the girls". Adro is annoyed and realizes that it is over.

Round 2: The girls are exited to move on to round 2. Next challenge is to climb a wall and the first one to reach the top and ring the bell win the prizes. Ruth feels confident but she later struggles while the other starts climbing. Ruth makes an attempt to pull herself up the wall and falls two metres. She is terrified and decides to give up but Adro goes in there and say "Get up there". Fiona is one step ahead Kristie up the wall and releases that she actually can win this. She puts extra effort in and rings the bell. Ruth "Thank god it's over". Fiona is very exited about the prizes and rightfully so.

Tomorrow is the weigh-in. Kristie is safe. Fiona has the advantage with an extra 1 kilo weight loss but hopefully the yum cha didn't affect her to much.

Yum Cha Temptation gives Kristie Immunity
Wednesday, 29 March 2006

While the contestants relax in the lounges after the hard brick challenge, Ruth is adjusting to solitary confinement. Bob encourages her through the door with what she needs to do and that the most important thing is for her to stay active. Bob and Jillian then push the contestants in the gym creating new limits. Shane: "Pain, agony and exhaustion doesn't matter for Bob & Jillian". Jillian talks to the girls about what their plan for today's temptation is. Jillian says she'd like to see one of the girls securing immunity. Fiona commits to play for immunity. Kristie says she feels vulnerable but can't decide whether or not she will play.

Adro, Shane, Fiona and Kristie gets ready to head to The Marigold Restaurant in Chinatown. Adro says it feels weird going just the four of them. At the Marigold they are seated and AJ tells them that today's temptation is yum cha. Each contestant can choose if they like to play the total of five yum cha rounds. Whatever they pick they have to eat. On the menu there is steamed broccoli, deep fried spring rolls, braised chick feet among other things. After they complete their dish they get to pick one fortune cookie. Immunity lies in one out of the twenty fortune cookies. First up is Adro, he says: "I can't risk eating carbs". Fiona chooses not to play first round either. She changed her mind when she heard there is a risk of eating chicken feet. Kristie then commits to play, repeatedly saying: "What have I done". She opens her bamboo steamer to reveal prawn dumplings (under 100 calories) lucky. Shane resists the temptation even though he is very hungry. After seeing Kristie getting a "not so bad" choice Adro decides to play. He gets steamed chinese broccoli - well done. Fiona gets a something steamed with white bread. Kristie has to eat chicken feet and Fiona is clearly disgusted. Kristie: "Mental pain to force myself to eat it". Shane says "It looks pretty good" and by the time Fiona has to eat her deep fried spring rolls, Shane outcries "Torture!"

Then there was time to open the fortune cookies. They receive some good advices and remarks on that they have to work off the yum cha but no immunity. Last cookie to be opened was Krisite's. She bursts into smiles and laughs. She got immunity. Everyone else but Shane now have more calories to burn in the gym. Ruth has tried her best with working out in her room hopefully she has done well.

Tomorrow another challenge and Ruth is back to join the contestants. They will have to find their way through maize tied and climb up a wall.

Cake, Beer and Challenge
Tuesday, 28 March 2006

Bob and Jillian bring in a surprise for the contestants, beer and cake. They are all eating, drinking and enjoying it. The trainers are trying to teach them about being in control over what they eat and have a limit. Know the calories the food you eat have and know how much training is involved to burn it off. Next we see everyone working out before the challenge. Bob and Jillian are working them harder than ever.

Then there is the challenge and everyone is dressed in work overalls and steel cap boots. The contestants see 5 tonnes of house bricks getting dropped off by forklifts. Adro: "You are joking". They will have to move a tonne of bricks each. The winner gets $1000 spending at Bunnings Warehouse. The loser will be locked in their room for a full day with no access to gym or trainers and misses out on immunity. AJ makes a joke: "Don't worry we have tools to help you"..."Gloves". The contestants were not amused.

Kristie makes a head start while the others are struggling with putting their gloves on. Everyone tries to develop a swift technique. Ruth using her shirt, Adro maximises his carry limit. Shane walks slow trying to keep as much energy under the burning sun. After a while the energy levels are dropping. Fiona's feet are killing her in the boots but she keeps moving. Shane is carrying 2 bricks at a time. Kristie makes "animal noises". Ruth lays down in the shade and has to have a piece of fruit to get her sugar levels up. Kristie fools the other with stacking her bricks high on one side so the others think she is not that far ahead. Adro goes and checks on Ruth only to find that when he returns Kristie is carrying her final bricks. Kristie ends up winning the challenge followed by Adro. She breaks down afterwards and cries hysterically after a both physical and mental challenge. Adro goes back to help the others and when Kristie felt better she joined in as well. Ruth finishes last and accepts the defeat with a smile. She will have it tough to stay active in a room tomorrow while the contestants face temptation in Chinatown.

Monday, 27 March 2006

Tonight's result from the elimination came as no surprise to Wal. He played it so well until last weeks unfortunate events. The big man that ruled the game was left to say his goodbyes. Ruth cried, Kristie had a smirk on her face and Fiona smiled. No one with any hard feelings. When Bob and Jillian walks in the morning after to find only four of them, they think there was a double elimination. Until Kristie utters that one is in the bathroom. Jillian expresses her joy and excitement when Shane comes out and jumps in his arms.

They head to the beach for some hard working out. Afterwards Bob says he'd like to see this game won by a girl for the first time - about time. Especially Fiona and Kristie who are proving their strength. Shane is also improving and now "standing tall".
