The Biggest Loser - News - Week 6

Wal (!) and Ruth under the yellow line
Friday, 24 March 2006

On tonight's weigh-in we witnessed some unsuspected results. We all thought that Wal along with Shane would be pulling the big numbers, but we were so wrong. In the end Wal should have picked Fiona for the early weigh-in, but how could he have known that she would loose a massive 7.8kgs! She did play her game on last week's weigh-in but after those 6 cupcakes it didn't look good. Also unexpected, was Adro's weight loss - 7.3kgs! With 11 cupcakes under his belt and an argument with Jillian put him under Bob's training. Whatever Adro did - it worked. The other contestants all did well but it wasn't enough to keep Wal and Ruth above the yellow line.

Wal still poses the largest threat to the other contestants and will most likely be voted off instead of Ruth. On Monday we will find out.

Wal picks Shane to have a early weigh-in
Thursday, 23 March 2006

On tonight's episode, Bob and Jillian divided the contestants. Bob took the boys running to get their heart rate up. Jillian pushed the girls with weights in the gym. Even though all contestants should be listening to their instructors, there is an issue with Adro not listening to Jillian. The solution between Bob and Jillian is that Bob deals with Adro this week.

For the challenge the contestants gathered on a sand dune in Palm Beach. Everyone was struggling walking up the hill and dreaded the race flags they saw as they approached closer. AJ announced a 5 heat race up the sand slope. Whoever comes last after each heat is out of the race. The winner of the last heat gets a $1000 mystery price but most importantly chooses one competitor to have a 48 hour early weigh-in, a definite disadvantage. The contestants received handicaps to make the race more equal. Wal and Kristie make it to the last heat. The stakes are high and after a very close race Wal makes it to the flag first. He picks Shane to have an early weigh-in.

After the challenge, Shane is the gym trying to workout so much as he possibly can. Tomorrow we find out how the early weigh-in goes for Shane and how the Friday weigh-in puts the contestants. Who will fall below the yellow line and face elimination?

Adro in Jillian's fury over cupcakes
Wednesday, 22 March 2006

Today we witnessed a temptation with stupid consequences. 102 cupcakes representing the figure in weight the six contestants have lost together so far. 4 cupcakes contained immunity. The odds not that good. The contestants had 15 minutes to make a move. Fiona starts straight away - unbelievable! How is her strategy going to work now? Since she drank a lot of water last week to "loose" more weight on this weigh-in. That doesn't add up with eating cupcakes!? Adro is in next after Wal specifically talked to him over and over again "come on". But everyone makes their own choices. In the last minutes Wal asks Kristie why she doesn't gamble. She responds I'm in if you are. So the both of them play. The 15 minutes run out and left are Fiona with 6 consumed cupcakes, Adro with 11, Wal with 3 and Kristie with 2. Neither of them gets immunity.

Afterwards Bob and Jillian walks in on them relaxing. When Jillian found out that Fiona had 6 she goes hard. "What where you thinking?" "Your strategy is basically blown, cupcakes doesn't fit into it". But her reaction over that Adro had 11 cupcakes is pure fury and rightfully so. She tells him that "What makes him think he can lash out like that?" and "That he worked out for less than an hour yesterday and ignoring her homework and expertise. She is disappointed and feels like talking to him is like talking to a brick wall. He tries to defend himself but really he's not in the good books for his actions. Bob later comments on it saying "Why stop at 11? When you've eaten that many, you have already blown it".

Tomorrow the contestants are having a race on the beach. The winner gets to pick one of their fellow contestants, that person will have a 48hrs early weigh-in instead of on Friday! The stakes are high.

Contestant's make-over & Adro gets to spend time with family
Tuesday, 21 March 2006

Today the contestants went to the hair styling studio RAW. Everyone got a new look and the results where amazing. They all look fabulous! Jillian even rushed her way to the salon just to see Shane's beard come off. Afterwards they went to a Womans Day Shoot and were fitted in new clothes. A lot different from the usual training outfits they've been wearing. Everyone looked great.

After all the fun, the contestants where told to gather at a running track. As they walk closer they see these tables filled with their favourite food, in the same amount of weight they have lost so far. The challenge was to run the track and whoever made it first got to spend the rest of the day with their loved ones. Adro finishing first with Wal running behind him making him push harder, knowingly that Adro wants to see his girls. When everyone came to the finishing line Aj announced there was a twist. To really win the prize, each contestant now have to run the track with weights strapped on them, representing the weight they used to weigh. Imagine strapping on 30-kilos plus as Wal had to - mind blowing! Adro wins this run as well and the moment he has longed for is reality. He caught a seaplane from Sydney Harbour to the Northern Beaches and meets his wife and daughter. They spent the day talking and hugging.

Tomorrow the contestants faces a hard temptation. 102 cupcakes and out of them only 4 contain immunity. Who will gamble? Is it worth the risk? We'll find out soon.

Artie & Tracy eliminated
Monday, 20 March 2006

The choice of eliminating Artie and Tracy came as no surprise. Adro said to Ruth that he felt unsure if Shane would go with the former reds and vote them out or if he would listen to Fiona pleading. Tracy says to Artie "Time to pack your bags. It would be a miracle if we are not going today." In the elimination room Adro slurs out that he feels 100% confident that him and Ruth are safe. Fiona is the first one to cast her vote. She cries and makes her former support group Tracy and Artie sob. 1 vote for Ruth and Adro. Shane's turn, he sticks with the reds original plan and votes for Artie and Tracy. Kristie does as well. Last vote is Wal's. Saying that the ones he has voted for has been playing the game in a "mean spirited" way from day one. And that this is not a contestant for "the biggest backstabber". Artie and Tracy gets to respond to the opinions before leaving the house. Tracy claims they played the game no different from anyone else. Time for goodbyes and Fiona is very emotional. They say goodbye to everyone but Wal.

After the elimination the remaining leaves the room divided. Fiona obviously very upset but the rest relieved. Wal talks about the stand he made. Tracy and Artie had wanted him out since the beginning and never cut him any slack. His time for revenge. Fiona can't stand his talk and between the cries says he should shut up. Wal then comes back with how she along with them tried to get him out and that the people they voted out deserved to stay. She leaves the room hastily.

Bob and Jillian meets the contestants in the gym, announcing there will be no more teams. Everyone is competing and will loose weight as singles. How it will be when they leave the house. They push each and everyone of them hard on the spin bikes and weight lifting. Kristie compared the workout with giving birth. That says something!

Artie and Tracy continues to loose weight outside the competition. Artie so far has lost and amazing 36kgs and works out 2hrs/day with his personal trainer. Tracy has lost 20kgs and says she now loves working out. She has meet her dream dress size - 14.

The contestants receive a full makeover and a photo shoot. Everyone is exited, Shane a bit with anticipation for the loss of his beard.
